The Hope and Anchor Inn – Hope Cove, Devon

The Hope and Anchor Inn – Hope Cove, Devon

The Hope and Anchor Inn is situated in the picturesque and well hidden fishing village of Hope Cove in the South Hams, Devon. The Hope and Anchor Inn offers a warm welcome to all its patrons and has a wide range of starters, main courses, desserts, light snacks as well as daily board specials and has something for everyone.

The lunchtime bar menu is sensibly arranged into starters, bites, meats, fish and desserts and is easy to read and understand. The Hope and Anchor is also open all day and serves breakfast and bacon sandwiches from 8.30 am in the morning as well as a selection of teas and coffees.

All the food at the Hope and Anchor is cooked fresh to order, and if the smoked mackerel pate starter and fresh local crab sandwiches are anything to go by, customers will not be disappointed when ordering something different. Both came with a lavish and tasty salad and the crab sandwich was full of lovely succulent fresh Devon Crab. The smoked mackerel pate was most definitely home-made and unlike some pates full of generous chunks of smoked mackerel and tasted delicious when spread on the malted brown bread toasted soldiers.

The Hope and Anchor was visited in early March before the season had begun and was fairly quiet but in the summer Hope Cove is brimming with tourists and naturally the village pub is a popular stop off for visitors. There is also generous outside seating if the bar and dining areas are full or you fancy a smoke in the sunshine, and children and families are welcome all the year round at the Hope and Anchor Inn.
