Salcombe, Devon

Salcombe is one of the most picturesque and busy seaside ports in the South Hams, along the South Devon coast. It is also extremely popular with the sailing fraternity as the inland creeks that the town overlooks provide the perfect shelter for boats. There are lovely golden sandy beaches on both sides of the estuary and it makes a great trip to take a passenger ferry from Salcombe over to East Portlemouth. There are wonderful coastal walks around Salcombe and East Portlemouth along the estuary and around the coast.
There are a large and varied number of shops such as craft shops, delicatessens and sweet shops as well as many small hotels, restaurants and pubs. There are also quite a few fashion outlets such as Crewe Company, Fat Face, The White Stuff and Henri Lloyd that obviously do very good trade during holiday season.
Salcombe is also famous for its delicious ice-cream, which can be bought at the Salcombe Dairy or in many locations in and around Devon.
