Allerthorpe Lakeland Park, near Pocklington

Allerthorpe Lakeland Park, near Pocklington, York, is a recently created recreational area comprising of a couple of lakes, a watersports centre and caravan / campsite. The park offers the opportunity to take part in waterskiing, sailing and kayaking by running courses with qualified instructrors and also hires equipment out. The creation is an interesting idea as there are few such facilities near York and it makes for a pleasant afternoon out on a fine day.

We visited on a sunny Spring day and enjoyed a walk in the sunshine around the lakes followed by an ice-cream at the lakeside cafe. Visitors are asked to pay £1 for the pleasure of walking around the lakes and although the paths are not extensive it makes for a pleasant stroll by the waterside, especially for families. There is a small pets corner for the children to visit. Pedaloes and kayaks can be hired.
