Roskilly's Organic Cornish Farm, St. Keverne, Cornwall

If you are visiting South Cornwall and the weather is good, then it is highly likely you will be sampling an ice-cream or two, in which case it is almost impossible not to miss the wonderfully organic creamy ice-cream that comes from Roskilly's farm, which I have to say is some of the very best I have tasted. Whether is it is plain old vanilla made with clotted cream or strawberry, or something more specialised like the honeycomb flavoured ‘Hokey Pokey’, I guarantee you will lick your lips after sampling this wonderful ice-cream.
The success of Roskilly's perfectly demonstrates how a farm can re-invent itself for the twenty-first century with the right products and the right marketing. As someone who works in the marketing industry, albeit online, the Roskilly's point of sale and marketing is excellent and this is demonstrated in the artwork of all the farmyard animals in the field with farmer Joe and the tractor ploughing. It can be found at almost all their ice-cream outlets complete with the light blue Roskilly’s logo and really enhances their brand.
Anyway back to the farm – we visited the courtyard at the farm on a glorious Saturday afternoon, and it is obvious that just as much effort has gone into this as with the ice-cream. At Roskilly's farm, there is an ice-cream parlour, several craft shops and a restaurant that also offers Roskilly’s own bred Aberdeen Angus beef on the BBQ during the evenings.
There are also farm walks, tours and a herb farm all with free entry. As a Roskilly’s newbie, I was totally impressed with the whole set up. I also have to confess to having a ‘Whopper’ from the parlour which comprises a large sugar cone and a choice of three flavours of their ice-cream from their large selection – well who wouldn’t!
