The Crown Inn, Frampton Mansell - Gloucestershire

The Crown Inn in Frampton Mansell is a very old and extremely unspoilt pub situated in the Cotswolds. The Crown Inn is thought to date back to 1633 as a cider house and slaughterhouse with its first record as a public house being recorded in the 1737 Licensing Act.
The inside of the pub is extremely impressive with its thick stone walls and huge roaring fireplace. The decor at the Crown Inn is extremely minimal but this adds to its character and the furnishings are extremely well chosen and compliment this old building perfectly. There is a good selection of fine local ales and the Crown Inn, Frampton Mansell also offers accommodation in an adjoining wing as well as a couple of rooms above the pub in the original building.
The menu at the Crown Inn on the Sunday we visited was varied and offered very good value with main courses ranging from £8.50 to £9.95 with a choice of either roast beef, chicken or lamb for Sunday lunch. None of us were really in the mood for Sunday lunch and the prospect of the home-made beef burger with cheese and bacon seemed far more sensible and came highly recommended.
The food did not take long to arrive which was extremely commendable as the Crown Inn, Frampton Mansell was full of eaters that day. True to the recommendation, the home-made burgers were absolutely delicious and would satisfy the biggest of eaters and came supplied with a generous portion of thick cut home-made chips and some wondefully delicious tomato relish.
The visit to the Crown Inn, Frampton Mansell was a fantastic start to our visit to the Cotswolds and set an incredibly an high standard. To sum up, the Crown Inn, Frampton Mansell, is full of character, totally unspoilt and serves up some wonderful food in a fantastic environment and comes highly recommended.
