Farm Shop - Wigginton

The Farm Shop, Wigginton, is situated just off the York ring road on the York to Helmsley road. It has a fairly large farm shop selling a variety of fresh farm produce and gifts and a café. On our visit just before Christmas, children could visit Father Christmas in his grotto and see the live reindeer, a highlight of our visit. Parents were handed a form to fill in with the children’s names and any messages for Father Christmas, which personalised their visit.

A great deal of thought had gone into the Christmas grotto, which was filled with magical decorations and plenty of buttons to press, for an interactive experience of singing snowmen, tweeting birds and singing Santas.

To keep the children occupied whilst waiting for their names to be called out, the elves showed them rabbits and guinea pigs and they were able to hold these if they wished. The visit to the grotto cost £8 for children and £3 for adults which is not particularly cheap, but the children really enjoyed it, Father Christmas was very kind and they were even allowed to choose their own presents. An ice-cream was included for the children as well. To the rear of the farm shop is a small play area with a large sand pit, see-saw and John Deere toy tractors which provided much fun for the children.

The Farm Shop, Wigginton, is worth a visit especially if you have children with you as they can play at leisure in the small play area whilst adults enjoy a drink in the café.
