The Lamb and Flag, Bishop Monkton

Without doubt, the Lamb and Flag, Bishop Monkton is one of the best that still serves Tetley Bitter the way it should be served. Many years ago, there used to be hundreds of Tetley pubs all serving fine Yorkshire Bitter, but sadly they have all but disappeared.
The Lamb and Flag, Bishop Monkton in this mad health and safety and hygiene world is one of the very few pubs left still using the autovac system where by beer is pulled from the barrel and any overflow goes into the drip tray and filters back to the barrel. This enables your pint of beer to be pulled from the barrel rather than from the line by over pulling two to three pints of beer to fill one and trust me, you can taste the difference. What you get is a fresh, smooth creamy pint served at the correct cellar temperature and there is not finer pint - period.
However, the Lamb and Flag, Bishop Monkton has far more to offer than just some of the best beer in the area and serves lunchtime and evening meals daily with a Sunday carvery available from 12pm - 2pm for a very reasonably priced £8.50. On the day we visited there was a selection of beef, lamb and pork with all vegetables and trimmings you could want and it was very tasty and good quality food.
The Lamb and Flag, Bishop Monkton also has three rooms available for bed and breakfast starting from £50 per night in a converted barn at the back of the pub.
