The Old School Bunkhouse, Bishopdale

The Old School Bunkhouse, Bishopdale Valley in Wensleydale, has been recently renovated to provide good accommodation for anyone looking for a cheap and simple place to stay (£13.50 per person per night). It can also be hired out for sole use by groups The bunkhouse sleeps up to 20 people and rooms are fitted out with bunk beds, one room sleeping 8 and 3 rooms sleeping 4. The best feature of the Old School Bunkhouse is its large, wooden-beamed dining-cum-lounge area equipped with a large dining table, sofas and seats. There is a television, board games and books to keep guests amused. The kitchen is a fair size and perfectly adequate for a large group. There are two showers (with hot water) and toilets. Out the back there is a small courtyard with barbecue facilities. Fresh eggs can be bought from the farm across the road.

The Old School Bunkhouse in Wensleydale is ideally situated for exploring the surrounding area with Aysgarth Waterfalls and Castle Bolton nearby. We did a 10-mile circular walk to Aysgarth and Castle Bolton. Furthermore, the Old School Bunkhouse is a few minutes walk from two village pubs, the George Inn in Thoralby, or slightly closer and belonging to the owners of the Bunkhouse, the Street Head Inn, where we had an excellent meal.
