The Olde Ship Inn - Seahouses, Northumberland

If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Northumberland, then Seahouses is a very popular choice, and some of the best accommodation can be found at the Olde Ship Inn. Seahouses is about twenty-five miles south of Berwick-upon-Tweed and fifteen miles north of Alnwick right on the Northumberland coast looking out towards the Farne Isalnds. The village of Bamburgh is two miles to the north of Seahouses and to the south lies the fishing village of Craster, Embleton Sands and Dunstanburgh Castle.
The Olde Ship Inn is a privately owned two-star hotel that has been in the Glen family since 1953. It has always been a popular stop-off for fishermen as it overlooks Seahouse's harbour and was first licensed back in 1812, having been a farmhouse before that. The main saloon bar is very impressive and virtually all the walls and ceilings are covered with fishing memorabilia dating back over two hundred years. The Olde Ship Inn also has a very good selection of cask conditioned ales on offer and if you are just popping in for a drink and a bite to eat, then the fresh crab sandwiches are some of the best in the area.

Accommodation at the Olde Ship Inn is extremely impressive and all the ten rooms are en-suite. The room we stayed in was very clean, warm and comfortable. The accommodation at the Olde Ship Inn was also very good value as it was the low season and our room was only £48 a night per person, and there was a very tasty breakfast available every morning included in the price which consisted of a choice of continental breakfast, full English breakfast or local craster kippers.
The bathroom in our room was very clean and it was a wonderful feeling to soak in the bath after a day out walking. All in all, the Olde Ship Inn is wondeful place to stay and there is just so much to see and explore along this fabulous stretch of English coastline.
