The Pigs Nose, East Prawle

Pigs Nose - East Prawle

East Prawle is a small village located slightly inland from the coast on the beautifully picturesque South Hams coastline just a few mile east from Salcombe. The Pigs Nose, East Prawle is an extremely traditional pub where not very much appears to have changed in over a hundred years. In fact it is one of the very few pubs I have visited where beer and cider is served from barrels behind the bar.

The Pigs Nose, East Prawle is very much a ‘what you see is what you get’ pub but is full of character right down to the landlord who was busy making stewed apple punch on our arrival. Food at the Pigs Nose was very good and i had no quibbles with the vegetable soup and cheddar ploughman’s that cost just over a tenner.

The Pigs Nose clearly know how to look after their locals and often have gig nights (in fact I think the PA system looked like it is always left set up). The pub also has a pool table and kids and dogs are most welcome and they even have some fur coats in the pub porch to keep smokers warm on a cold day.

If you want something very basic and rural, then the Pigs Nose is definitely worth a visit especially if you are planning a long walk on the coast path round Prawle Point.
