The Plough Inn, Allerthorpe, near York

The Plough Inn at Allerthorpe is a family-run, traditional English inn dating back to 1829. It's situated in the centre of the village of Allerthorpe near Pocklington, just to the east of York. There is a pleasant beer garden at the front of the pub where it is lovely to sit and enjoy the sunshine on a fine day. The menu consists of traditional pub food. We visited on a Sunday lunchtime and were pleased to find we didn’t have to have a Sunday roast but could order other light meals instead. We enjoyed a pork baguette with chips and salad and a burger with chips and salad, both of which were very reasonably priced.

A visit to the Plough Inn could be combined with a visit to nearby Allerthorpe Lakeland Park or Allerthorpe Common for a walk.
